As we are celebrating Christmas today, I was thinking that it would be appropriate for me to recommend one of the most popular and beloved classic Christmas movies, “Miracle on the 34th Street”. The film discusses the myth of Santa Claus and conveys a message for all the kids from everywhere: Santa Claus really exists! This enjoyable piece of cinema artistry that is shown all over the world on Christmastime, has an excellent cast and crew. You will get to admire, among others, Maureen O’Hara, Natalie Wood (when she was a little girl), Edmund Gwenn (as Santa Claus, winner of an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Supporting Role). George Seaton, the director of the film, was also the one who adapted Valentine Davies’ original story for the big screen. They both won an Oscar for Best Screenplay, and Seaton also won a Golden Globe for the Adapted Screenplay. In addition to this, “Miracle on the 34th Street” was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture and it was a big hit then, as it still is now. No wonder why this film was ranked #9 on the American Film Institute’s 100 Most Inspiring Movies of All Time! So, I invite you to watch it and to spend a wonderful Christmastime with your family! Merry Christmas!
